A tree test is one way to validate whether your information architecture is working by giving users a task to find info or items using your established site map.

Users click through a “tree” of menu labels and page titles to see if they can locate the item they’re tasked to find.

Treejack, an online tree test, can provide an evaluation of success versus failure for each user task. It’s a great way to get quick stats on how intuitive your info architecture is (or isn’t) for users.
