Hello, it’s nice to meet you, and welcome to my UX portfolio. I am a UX Strategy and Design Lead, and my work style is known as a “UX Fox”:
UX Foxes are people who can think laterally and apply insights from several fields. They may have a background in psychology, business, or English literature or have taken a non-traditional path into the UX design community. We sometimes find UX Foxes tucked away in corporate environments—where they have held various roles in communications, marketing, or IT departments. Or they may have done a solid amount of freelance consulting or work in an agency setting where they’ve applied their craft in different verticals and worn several different hats in the process.
They bring with them a diverse set of experiences and an ability to easily shift their thinking and adapt to new constraints. They’re more comfortable with—and even embrace—uncertainty. They approach problems and unfamiliar terrain with curiosity and creativity. People with this style bring a lot to the table when solving a problem requires research—perhaps by doing a contextual inquiry—or scoping information architecture and interaction design. - UX Matters
I am a UX Strategy and Design Lead with an entrepreneurial spirit. I am in the Bay Area and come with a background in B2B digital marketing, digital marketing for fintech, luxury-home, and non-profit education. I create useful and rewarding human experiences by leveraging my expertise in UX and digital marketing strategy, UX design, design thinking, and content strategy.
I am also a multi-disciplinary artist, writer, and web app creator. I want to help make a world that is creatively connected, equitable, adaptive, and cooperative by bringing my critical thinking, creative passion, analytical mind, and UX design skills to companies that value the holistic user experience with a focus on growth and retention.

If you ever met Shasta, you can immediately tell she enjoys learning about the psychology behind any design and how to influence user behavior. She has also shown a keen interest in learning about the 'why'/strategy before she starts projects. She has always excelled at content-driven strategy tasks and is a quick learner.
Shasta has a strategic mind; she approaches every project thoughtfully and takes the time to research the client and understand the strategy for every task she needs to take on. Shasta also has excellent presentation skills; she is very persuasive and presents articulately, thoughtfully, and confidently.
Additionally, Shasta is a joy to work with. She is always positive and makes everyone she works with feel at ease.
I would welcome the opportunity to work with her again in the future.

I've had the pleasure of managing Shasta for a year and a half, and I can confidently say she would be an extraordinary asset to any UX team. She is a conscientious UX-er with excellent attention to detail - taking the time to thoughtfully research each client and fully understand the strategy before starting a project. She's driven by the psychology of UX and how to positively influence user behavior - often coming up with unique solutions to everyday UX challenges.
While working on my team, she has excelled at everything from persona development and user journey mapping, large-scale, enterprise site IA tasks, to complex interactive wireframes. Most importantly, she has a confident, persuasive communication style - winning over client stakeholders with her thoughtful, articulate presentations. Shasta has been called 'a joy to work with' by many clients and colleagues, and I wholeheartedly agree.

“Shasta grew exponentially in the IDF UX Bootcamp course. While she has an excellent composition eye, evinced by her photography, UX was a completely new arena for her. Shasta put her strong business and customer relations skills to work for her and really excelled in the course. Her outputs were really excellent, and she always sought clarity with each methodology she learned. She was extremely organized, pragmatic, and always kept the user in mind. Shasta has incredible empathy for her users, and people in general, which served her very well in user testing. She learns very quickly, has a fantastic attitude, is always quick to smile and laugh, and was really easy to work with. Shasta took constructive criticism very well and always employed the suggestions very well, and even took the principles to the next level without guidance. Shasta has a wonderful and very creative thinking process, yet is always anchored by her previous business and process knowledge, truly a left and right-brained Designer. I highly recommend Shasta as a Team member and a proactive individual contributor.”

“Shasta McBride and I were colleagues for five years a global, volunteer-based community organization. I admired her ability to listen for agreement, speak her thoughts aloud, and offer encouragement to others. During my tenure as Chair, Shasta was an eager and helpful apprentice in learning how to serve and manage a global community and guide its members into effective action. Her ability to work with social media and her creative disposition led to useful solutions."

She doesn't just do the work that is handed to her, she takes a lot of initiative in finding ways to make everything more streamlined and professional. She has a good eye for beauty which has had a direct effect on our working environment and our image to the outside world. She has actually given us a 'face' on social media that is inviting, effective and beautiful. Working with Shasta has been very valuable, both personally and professionally.”
